The National Railways of Zimbabwe has put in place facilities to transport school children on the 7th and 8th of this month when the new term begins.
In a statement, NRZ Public Relations Manager Fanuel Masikati said the facility is in response to the plight of school children who usually get stranded due to shortage of transport.
Bus operators usually hike fares depending on demand, thus straining parents' finances at a time they will be struggling to raise school fees and meeting other related costs.
Masikati said the NRZ will allocate more passenger coaches and called on parents to book and buy tickets in time to avoid inconveniences.
He also advised travellers that there will be a daily passenger train service between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.
The Victoria Falls route is also popular with tourists travelling to the resort town.
Masikati also appealed to members of the public to report to the police people seen loitering or digging along the railway line to curb cases of vandalism which have crippled NRZ operations.
