Arsonists widely believed to be angry husbands have burnt and erased to the ground the homestead of a Zaka man convicted of using juju to sleep with scores of married women in the village (mubobobo).
Provincial police spokesperson Peter Zhanero could not confirm the incident but The Mirror has it on good authority that two suspects have since been arrested in Zaka.
Rueben Chimedza the acting Chief Ndanga confirmed the incident and said as a traditional chief, he had no mandate to deal with the case since it was criminal and added that Police was dealing with it.
Police sources at Ndanga in Zaka said Aaron Mubvumo Musuka (46) of Chadzimura Village was thoroughly beaten by a group of assailants on Christmas Day and his homestead comprising two huts was burnt to the ground three days later and all property destroyed.
Reliable sources revealed that Luckmore Mombe and Gibson Jepfure have since been arrested over the assault but while they were still in jail the convicted mubobo man's huts were set on fire.
There is belief that the suspects in both cases should be angry husbands whose wives were victims of Musuka's juju sex. Musuka was late last year found with 58 underpants belonging to scores of women in the same village. He ran away but when he eventually surrendered, he was taken to the traditional court where on his own plea of guilt was convicted of having sex with married women using juju commonly known as mubobobo. Musuka paid fine of three beasts.
Police is still hunting for the arsonists and no arrests at the time of going to Press. It is suspected that the husbands and relatives of these women teamed up and attacked Mubvumo before others set his homestead on fire.
Chief Ndanga said there was nothing he can do since cases of assault and arson are criminal therefore, will be handled by the Police.
"It's true that his houses were set on fire but the assailants are not known. The Police are investigating the case and we hope that the culprits will be brought to book. Mubvumo paid three beasts fine for possessing married women's underpants. We had solved the matter amicably but it seems the relatives of these women were not satisfied," said acting Chief Ndanga.
Headman Joseph Chadzimura also said many villagers wanted Musuka to leave the area after last year's incident.
"When Mubvumo was fined three beasts many men from the village demanded that he should leave the area but the Chief allowed him to stay, hoping that ZINATHA was going to be called to cleanse him. We will wait for the Police to complete their investigations so at the moment we cannot implicate anyone," said Chadzimura.
Mombe and Jepfure, appeared in court at Zaka Magistrates Court last week and were both acquitted due to lack of evidence.
