NOAH Ziwaya (32) shocked a Chipinge court last week when he told the presiding magistrate, Mr Makamera Waini that he cannot do anything even the simplest of tasks without smoking mbanje.
Ziwaya was hauled before the courts after he was caught in possession of 2,5kgs of mbanje at Dzonzayi Complex in the old suburb of Gaza in Chipinge.
It was the State case that on January 5, Ziwaya was nabbed by CID detectives after a tip off from the public that he was in possession of the illegal drug.
Detectives found the drug hidden in his travelling bag.
On January 7, the mbanje was weighed at Chipinge Post Office and the quantity was 2, 5kgs.
Ziwaya pleaded guilty and told the court that the drug was essential in his life as he uses it as an energy booster when partaking in his various part time jobs.
"I admit that I was found in possession of the drug. I use the drug as a stimulant before I start work and I cannot do anything, even the simplest of tasks without smoking it," Ziwaya told the court.
Mr Waini sentenced Ziwaya to 24 months imprisonment.
However four months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offense in the next five years.
Mr Witness Nyamundaya prosecuted.
