A United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly inspectorate team is expected to arrive in the country on Monday for a third round of assessment on the country's preparedness ahead of the tourism convention to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia.

The UNWTO team will hold meetings with authorities and senior government officials before inspecting facilities due to be used for co-hosting the event.

The inspectorate team is also expected to carry out an assessment of the country's co-hosting partner of the general assembly, Zambia during its five day visit.

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Engineer Walter Mzembi expressed confidence of a positive outcome.

He said government will maximise on the team's visit to map out other strategic plans necessary for the successful hosting of the 20th session of the UNWTO General Assembly to be held in the resort town of Victoria Falls in August this year.

The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry is also expected to make use of the inspectorate team's visit by having their input in the crafting of the national tourism master plan aimed at giving potential investors relevant information on investment opportunities while ensuring that the sector achieves sustainable growth rates.

During its last assessment conducted in August last year, the UNWTO inspectorate team expressed confidence in Zimbabwe and Zambia's capacity to host the event.
