The eastern highlands have this month received rainfall in excess of 100 millimetres, with Nyanga breaking the record set in 1959.
The Meteorological Services Department Senior Officer, Jonathan Chifuna said the rains that were received throughout the country saw Nyanga receiving the most rainfall of 164 millimetres on the 12th of this month, breaking the 111 millimetres set on the 6th of January in 1959.
Mutoko also broke the record set on the 28th of January 1963 of 77 millimetres after receiving 94 millimetres.
However, the southern parts of the country did not receive much with 14 millimetres being the highest.
Mr Chifuna said heavy rains received in most parts of the country have seen farmers in some provinces such as Manicaland and Mashonaland complaining that they cannot work on the fields because of water logging.
He however warned people who stay in low lying areas to be wary of floods as the ground in some areas has become saturated and cannot absorb water anymore.
The Meteorological Services Department also predicts that the current rains will continue until the 22 January.
