Mugabe insists that election will be held before year end

President Robert Mugabe, who is also ZANU PF First Secretary and President, says claims by the MDC-T that there is violence in the country are a tactic being used by the formation in an attempt to delay the holding of the impending elections.
Mugabe was speaking at the ZANU PF Central Committee meeting in Harare, where he updated party members on the progress of the GPA and other issues that arose at last week's Troika Summit held in Livingstone, Zambia.
Mugabe said the MDC-T is pushing for the delaying of the election using various tactics including the allegations about violence.
The President said conflicts and quarrels are a common feature in multi-party and democratic environments and that such rivalries cannot stop the holding of elections.
According to the process laid down in the Global Political Agreement, an election is supposed to mark the end of the inclusive government, following the inconclusive result of the 2008 presidential election which led to the creation of the inclusive government.
Mugabe also dismissed as false claims of media bias by the MDC-T, where they allege that the local media is biased in favour of ZANU PF.
He explained that the opposition's agenda of regime change in Zimbabwe is highly supported by some powerful international media houses and some pirate radio stations that are based in some neighbouring countries.
At the same meeting, Mugabe urged members of his party to start preparing for the elections which he said should be held before the end of the year after the completion of the constitution making process.
