Principals finally agree on the draft constitution

Principals to the GPA have finally agreed on the long awaited draft constitution and the proclamation of dates for the referendum and elections to be held in due course.
President Robert Mugabe announced the completion of the draft constitution at State House, Harare this Thursday afternoon after marathon meetings with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Deputy Prime Minister Professor Arthur Mutambara and MDC- N leader, Professor Welshman Ncube.
Prime Minister Tsvangirai, Professor Mutambara and Professor Ncube have also confirmed the conclusion of the draft constitution, saying it was done in the best interest of the nation.
The meetings were also attended by the cabinet committee members including Justice and Legal Affairs Minister Patrick Chinamasa, Finance Minister Tendai Biti and Regional Integration and International Co-operation Minister Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga and COPAC co-chairpersons Paul Mangwana, Douglas Mwonzora and Edward Mukhosi
The principals commended and thanked the people of Zimbabwe for their patience as the process took longer than expected.
President Mugabe said all the final agreements made this Thursday will be incorporated in the draft constitution of 18 July last year.
He said after the compilation of the full draft, he will proclaim the date for the referendum and elections later.
