TEN people have drowned so far this month after vehicles they were travelling in were swept away at flooded rivers and bridges in separate incidents. National traffic acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luckmore Chakanza warned motorists and members of the public to avoid crossing flooded rivers.
"So far 10 people have drowned after the vehicles they were travelling in were swept away at flooded rivers," he said.
He said last week four people drowned while several others escaped unhurt when a Toyota Hiace they were travelling in was swept away at Runde River Bridge.
Another two people, a driver and a passenger, drowned last week in Chinhoyi when an Isuzu KB truck they were travelling in was swept away at Nyagani River.
