A NewsDay Editor, Ropafadzo Mapimhidze, who is being charged for calling Chief Rangarirai Nhema to seek a comment for a story, will appear in court next Monday.

Mapimhidze was charged with contravening Section 88 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act for repeatedly calling Chief Nhema to follow up on reports that the chief allegedly orchestrated political violence in His Zaka area in Masvingo province, situated in south-eastern Zimbabwe.

Mapimhidze's lawyer, Martin Mureri, said his client is being accused of making a telephone call without reasonable cause for the purpose of "causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety".
