A 57-YEAR-OLD Rusape man stunned court officials recently after he confessed to forcing himself on a deaf, dumb and mentally challenged woman because his ex-wife had cheated on him.
Ronald Manyeku from Chinyadza Village under Chief Tandi told regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza, that he was prepared to marry the complainant since he was quite sure that no man will ever take her away from him because of her state.
It was the State's case led by Area Public Prosecutor, Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira that Manyeku raped the complainant several times in August last year.
"On August 18, Manyeku went to the complainant's home and lured her to his home where he detained her for some days. He slept with her on several occasions.
"The complainant's relatives started looking for her, but they could not locate her. Villagers led by villagehead, Mr Patson Chinyadza carried out a search, but Manyeku did not inform them that he had detained the complainant. However, the villagers got suspicious and forced themselves into Manyeku's home where they found the complainant."
The villagers subsequently arrested Manyeku and he was taken to the police.Mr Chipadza is expected to pass judgment on February 8, 2013.
