Zimbabwe draft constitution: Promises, Problems and Prospects
04 Feb 2013 at 07:26hrs | Views
Three years and R400 million later, Zimbabwe's draft constitution will be presented to Parliament on the 8th February 2013. Indications are that the Principals (leaders of the three main political parties) have agreed on all previously disputed issues and that SADC has been told that the Constitution is ready for Referendum. It is therefore unlikely that there will be any substantive changes to the draft constitution.
· What are the good and bad points of this Constitution?
· What are the wins and losses?
· What does this Constitution mean for elections and for the future of Zimbabwe?
These and other questions will be explored at the OSISA Brown Bag meeting on the Zimbabwe draft constitution.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
· Analyse the draft constitution and outline progress and regression;
· Consider opportunities for open society programming if the draft constitution was to be adopted.
Date: Friday, 8 February 2013
Time: 10am - 12 noon
Event venue: OSISA Board Room, Ground Floor, President Place, 1 Hood Ave/148 Jan Smuts Ave (Cnr Bolton), Rosebank.
