Reverend Johannes Ndanga of the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) has said people should vote for Robert Mugabe in the forthcoming elections as he was anointed by God to lead the Zimbabwe.

He said President Mugabe was head and shoulders above all the other pretenders vying to lead the country.

Addressing more than 25 000 Zion and Apostolic church members in Museva communal lands during the investiture of Bishop Jameson Pedzisayi as the new Bishop Andreas Shoko of the Zion Apostolic Faith Mission, Rev Ndanga said there were a lot of special things about the President which should make Zimbabweans have faith in his continued leadership.

"There are many people from within and without Zimbabwe who want to question President Mugabe's ability to rule this country but people should know that President Mugabe's age is his trump card to win these elections.

"At his age he is now very wise owing to the experience that he got during the course of his life and even when one compares him with his younger rivals, it is clear that he stands head and shoulders above them in terms of wisdom, experience and above all the undying love for his country,"he said.

Reverend Ndanga said other prospective presidents including MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai had already shown their fallibility in the face of political power as evidenced by his flirtation with a string of women

He said President Mugabe's rule was prophesied way back in 1934 by the founder of the Johanne Masowe church Prophet Shoniwa Masedza when the veteran Zanu-PF leader was aged 10 years.
"People might trouble themselves by trying to unseat President Mugabe but let them know that President Mugabe was anointed by God to rule this country and it is only God who can remove him.

"It was prophesied way back in 1934 by the founder of Johane Masowe church that Zimbabwe was going to have a leader like President Mugabe who will only be removed by God," he said.
Reverend Ndanga appealed to apostolic and Zion churches to always uphold the gospel of non-violence as Zimbabwe gears for elections.

Speaking at the same gathering, ACCZ Masvingo provincial chairperson Bishop Lyphet Matenda urged church members and apostolic sects to vote for a political party that held dear Zimbabwe's independence and the right for indigenous people to be masters of their destiny.

Reverend Matenda said Zimbabwe had set the pace in giving honour and restoring dignity to the indigenous people through the land reform programme and the ongoing indigenisation and empowerment programme.

The new Bishop Andreas Shoko also reiterated the need for churches to sow the seeds of unity and non-violence during elections.

He succeeds his father Bishop Pedzisayi Pedzisayi as the new Bishop Andreas Shoko after the latter died in October last year.
