A 46-YEAR-OLD suspected hooker who allegedly stole a mobile phone from her 56-year-old client after a misunderstanding over payment has been arrested.
Sandra Makoni, who operates in Harare's Avenues area, yesterday appeared before magistrate Ms Shelly Zvenyika charged with theft.
It is alleged she stole a mobile phone, Samsung GTS 5300, valued at US$160. She is denying the allegations.
She was granted US$20 bail and was remanded to February 8.
Appearing for the State Ms Venencia Mtake alleges that on December 15 at around 1am, Makoni was standing at the intersection of Josiah Chinamano Avenue/Mazoe Street soliciting for purposes of prostitution.
It is the State's case that Sylvester Shamu of Warren Park 1 approached her for sexual favours.
Makoni got into Shamu's vehicle and the two started drinking beer. The court heard that Makoni could not agree with the amount which Shamu offered.
A misunderstanding arose and Makoni left. It is further alleged that after Makoni had disembarked, Shamu realised that his cellphone was missing.
He made a police report leading to the arrest of Makoni.
