Corrupt cops to face full wrath of law

Cases of corruption and dishonesty involving ZRP members will be finalised within seven days for the force to ensure that there is a zero tolerance to the scourge.
Morris Depot Commandant Senior Assistant Commissioner Grace Ndebele yesterday said they had set up anti-corruption teams in the provinces, districts and stations to ensure that they left no stone unturned.
She was speaking at the Ant-Corruption Crime Awareness campaign for the depot province in Harare yesterday.
"In Depot province, three members were arrested in 2012 for engaging in corrupt activities. These members decided to pursue their own self aggrandised ends and today it is obvious that they are regretting. They lost the whole portion only because of the grains they were craving for," Snr Asst Comm Ndebele said.
She said if other officers did not heed the warning they would live to regret.
Snr Asst Comm Ndebele said the Depot province always made it clear that all trainers or recruits caught dabbling in such activities would be dismissed before they spread the "disease" to others.
"When we say we don't tolerate corruption we mean that we will deal heavily with those found wanting. Forewarned is forearmed."
She appealed to the public not to engage in corrupt activities.
Snr Asst Comm Ndebele said through the ZRP Service Charter, complaints against police were welcome.
She said suggestion boxes were also ideal and identities of informers would be protected.
"Those bent on bribing the police to get away with crime will also, together with the disgracing police officers, face the full wrath of the law," she said.
Snr Asst Comm Ndebele said Zimbabwe was looking for patriotic and selfless minds while the force sought incorruptible and honest officers.
She said their campaign had come at a time when the force had waged a spirited war against corruption.
