The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has received two state-of-the-art digital outside broadcasting equipment donated by the Chinese government to enable the co-operation to meet the digitalisation thrust.

The new equipment includes the latest outside broadcast van equipped with 8-plus-1 high definition cameras with a super slow replay facility and a high definition satellite uplink van.

The ZBC's Head of Engineering and ICT, Mr Shadreck Mupeni elaborated how the mobile broadcasting equipment operates, saying it will improve the quality of transmission while bringing events to the people as they happen.

Group CEO Happison Muchechetere commended the Chinese government for its worthwhile contribution, saying the equipment will be very useful during the covering of important national events such as the plebiscite elections slated for this year.

He added that the new equipment will save the corporation more than twenty thousand dollars per event which was being forked out when hiring from South Africa.

He said an engineering team of 20 experts from China will be in the country for a period to facilitate the training of engineers and technicians and other personnel who will handle the equipment.

The outside broadcasting equipment is capable of bringing live coverage of events between two points linking them to viewers as they occur.

They will be useful in covering sports events and national events such as the forth coming referendum, elections and the UNWTO general assembly.
