Residents of Harare's high density suburb of Kuwadzana are living in fear after claims that a local primary school child was a victim of witchcraft.
Earlier, unconfirmed reports had suggested that the Kuwadzana 6 Primary School pupil mysteriously turned into a snake.
According to two pupils from the school, the victim, whose name cannot be disclosed, was offered $5 by a stranger.
Immediately after giving the money to the boy the stranger is alleged to have transformed into a snake which then entered the pupil's body through the mouth.
Although the school head, Mrs Greta Nyamagodo refused to speak to the ZBC News on camera, she was caught unaware as she related the matter on mobile phone in what looked like she was giving an account to her superiors.
Police manning the yard denied the News crew access to the boy's parents.
The police could be seen driving off scores of people who had gathered around the house where the alleged witchcraft victim lives with his parents.
This incident comes a few weeks after a bomb incident in Chitungwiza which had initially been touted as a black magic act but later proved by the police not to be.
