Indigenisation under threat
14 Feb 2013 at 05:22hrs | Views
Zimbabwe's indigenisation drive has turned out to be a massive cash cow for well-heeled and politically connected elites, as details of massive misrepresentation and grand looting for deal makers emerge.
One of the advisory firms which played a consultancy role- Brainworks Capital- fronted by former banker George Manyere- is expected to pocket up to $45 million from the Zimplats deal alone.
Even more shocking are disclosures that only the British courts will handle any disputes which might emanate from the empowerment deals reached between government, through the Indigenisation ministry and the indigenised companies.
