Premier Optometry general manager Delan Nyandoro, accused of showing his female subordinate a p*rnographic video recorded in his laptop, yesterday appeared in court facing charges of possessing p*rnographic material and criminal insult.
Nyandoro (36) was not formally charged when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei who remanded him to February 28 this year on his own cognisance.
The complainant in the matter is Ms Rutendo Hakutangwe who is also employed by Premier Optometry.
The State alleges that on June 16 last year Nyandoro went into Ms Hakutangwe's office with his laptop playing a p*rnographic video and placed it in front of her to watch.
It is alleged that Ms Hakutangwe closed the laptop after being shocked with the explicit video.
Nyandoro allegedly removed the disc from his laptop and placed it on Hakutangwe's table before leaving for his office.
The State says Ms Hakutangwe told Nyandoro to take his disc, but he ignored her.
She informed her superiors, Siphilisiwe Kainga and doctor Silindelo Nomutenda about the incident before reporting the case to the police.
It is the State's contention that Hakutangwe felt insulted and degraded by the video and reported the matter to the police where she left the p*rnographic disc.
The disc was taken to the Censorship Board for examination where it was concluded that the video portrays oral s*x, s*xual intercourse, licking and general exposure of the human anatomy.
