A Plumtree man who assaulted a neighbour after accusing him of owning goblins resulting in him dying in hospital appeared in court facing murder charges.
Joseph Ncube (54), of Old Line in Brunapeg, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Gibson Mandaza.
He was remanded in custody to 1 March and was advised to apply to the High Court for bail.
The State's case presented by the prosecutor, Mr Stanley Chinyanganya, is that on 10 January this year, Ncube passed through Moyo's homestead and found him standing by the gate.
Ncube accused Mr Moyo of keeping goblins, which he said were stealing cattle from his kraal. Upon hearing the accusations, Mr Moyo followed Ncube, who was about a kilometre away from his homestead demanding that he proves his allegations.
Ncube instead allegedly turned violent and started punching Mr Moyo all over the body and kicking him with booted feet resulting in Mr Moyo sustaining serious injuries.
Mr Moyo was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he died upon admission.
