MDC MP charged for insulting Mugabe

Nyanga North MP and Copac co-chairperson Douglas Mwonzora was on Friday charged for insulting President Robert Mugabe.
Mwonzora's lawyer David Tambiri said the MP was summoned to Mutare Central Police Station where he was informed he was facing a new charge of undermining or insulting the authority of the President.
It is alleged that Mwonzora made an insulting statement while pointing at the portrait of the president of Zimbabwe.
They said the statement was meant to cause hatred, contempt or ridicule of the President, his person or his office.
He signed a warned and cautioned statement.
Mwonzora however denies the charge.
The state will proceed by way of summons.
