A Harare man yesterday said he felt cheated by his wife of 30 years after she brought two more children home apart from the three he knew she had before they married.

Gideon Sadomba said when she met Violet, she told him that she had three children and he accepted it, but now accuse her of bringing two more children home a year after, claiming they were hers. The children, Sadomba said, were brought to his house soon after they legally married.

Sadomba accused Violet at the Harare Civil Courts where she was seeking a protection order against him, of not appreciating his kindness.

"Some women do not appreciate," he said.

"I decided to marry this woman when she had three children of her own. A year into the marriage, I got the shock of my life when two more chiIdren surfaced and said they were her children.

"I forgave her and at one time I was forced to sell my stockings such that I could fend for her children. Up to now, those children are residing at the house I inherited from my late parents. We have been married for the past 30 years.

"The first year of our marriage was fine until those two children surfaced after we got legally married. We are in the process of divorcing and I only managed to take the few pots I inherited from a late relative. The problem we have is that she is denying me the chance to see my child who is staying with her at my parents' house since I moved out."

But Violet said Gideon was in the habit of chasing her out of the house.

"He took my curtains, pots and plates when he was moving out to stay with another woman," she said.

"I have nowhere else to go and he insults me every time he comes home."

Magistrate Ms Vongai Muchuchuti ordered Sadomba to stop taking matrimonial property and verbally abusing Violet until divorce proceedings were finalised.
