MDC-T elections update

Bulawayo and Mashonaland Central provinces failed to complete their elections due to police interference after they barred the elections to proceed.

Before the elections were abandoned, Hon. Gorden Moyo, the Minister of State Enterprise and Parastatals was voted the Bulawayo provincial chairperson with Hon. Dorcas Sibanda, the MP for Bulawayo coming in as his deputy and Hon. Reggie Moyo, Luveve MP retaining his position as secretary.

The elections were scheduled to resume today but were barred again when the police claimed they did not have enough security as they were manning a soccer match.

The elections are expected to resume next week.

In Mashonaland Central, the elections were stopped by the police after Godfrey Chimombe had been elected chairperson.

The elections are expected to resume again next week.

However, in other provinces the elections went on smoothly with Lilian Timveous being elected the chairperson for Midlands South.

Her deputy is Francsico Masendeke and Lewlyn Sibanda is the porvincial secretary.

The elections were held at the Midlands Hotel.

In Matebeleland North, Sengezo Tshabangu retained his position as the chairperson with Abednico Bhebhe coming in as the deputy chairperson and Hwange East MP, Hon. Gift Mabhena being elected secretary.

The elections were held in Lupane.

In Masvingo, Wilstaf Sitemere retained his position as chairperson.

The elections were held at Mucheke Stadium.

Today, the elections are in progress in the following provinces; Manicaland, Mashonaland East, Matebeleland South and Midlands North.
