Former Zifa CEO seeks discharge

Former Zifa Chief Executive Officer Henrietta Rushwaya applied for discharge after the close of the State's case yesterday.
Rushwaya is facing charges of corruptly concealing transactions from a principal.
Mr Charles Chinyama who is appearing for Rushwaya is expected to file his written submissions to support his application on March 25.
The State led by Mr Oliva Marwa will file its response on April 2 and the ruling on whether she should be put to her defence or not has been set for April 12.
Rushwaya appeared before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Ms Estere Chivasa.
The charges against the former Zifa boss emanate from soccer matches the senior national soccer team played in Asia.
She is alleged to have arranged trips for the national soccer team to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Oman, Jordan, Bulgaria, China, Thailand and Yemen between 2007 and 2010 without permission from her superiors.
She pleaded not guilty to all nine counts of corruptly concealing a transaction from a principal.
