A Harare man yesterday told a court that his marriage was on the rocks after he noticed that his wife was in the habit of not wearing her ring in public.
Revai Sadziwa said this at Harare Civil Courts where he was brought by his wife Catherine who was seeking a protection order against him.
"I am opposing her application because I am legally married to her. We started arguing after I found she was not wearing her wedding ring even now you can notice she is not wearing it.
"The following day she locked me inside our matrimonial home together with our four-year-old child. She left the house at around midnight and I did not assault her.
"She came back with her relatives and took my child and he is currently not going to school," Revai said.
Earlier on Catherine told the court she wanted protection because she was afraid of her husband.
"I want this man barred from my parents' place in Avonlea where I am currently staying. Last week, he assaulted me and I thought of going back to my parents' place where he even followed me.
"I want him barred from harassing me and my parents which he does when he comes to claim our baby. He sends everyone text messages with all sorts of insults," Catherine said.
A text message was read in court which Revai had sent to Catherine's sister which read: "You are an idiot and a curse will live upon your life."
Magistrate Ms Vongai Muchuchuti ruled in Catherine's favour.
"It is difficult the applicant left for no apparent reason. You are ordered to keep peace but you are not barred from going to Avonlea since you are legally married and your son is there."
