The state controlled media , ZBC reports that the Zanu-PF National Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa has expressed concern over utterances by MDC-T Secretary General Tendai Biti who was quoted in some sections of the local media alleging that he [Mutasa] was involved in the death of a Headlands boy, Christpower Maisiri.
Mutasa described Mr Biti's utterances as misdirected and unfounded, adding that is a mere campaign designed to smear Zanu-PF before the elections.
Turning to the elections to be held this year, Mutasa said the revolutionary party is ready to turn the tables and win the coming elections in Manicaland Province, adding that this time around, the MDC-T has no chance.
He called on the Zanu-PF leadership and party supporters to shun all forms of violence and vote in a peaceful and tranquil environment.
The Zanu-PF Manicaland Provincial leadership says the 2008 harmonised elections were a wake-up call, adding that such mistakes will be tolerated this year.
Meanwhile, investigations into the death of 12 year old Christpower Maisiri are complete and police have revealed there is no foul play suspected.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said they did not find any residue of a petrol bomb at the scene, adding that there is no indication that the fire was deliberately started in an act of arson.
Assistant Commissioner Charamba said investigations also revealed that there were flammable substances in the hut such as four bags of ammonium nitrate fertilizers and tobacco chemicals, adding that the origin of the fire could have been a flame from a paraffin lamp.
Police also revealed that the father of the deceased had only reported three cases of assault to the police not nine as reported in some sections of the media.
After Christpower Maisiri's death, the MDC-T laid the blame on Zanu-PF, saying the hut in which the boy was sleeping had been petrol-bombed.
Zanu-PF however described the accusations as baseless and said law enforcement authorities should be given a chance to complete investigations.
