Mugabe leaves for South Africa

President Robert Mugabe has left Harare for South Africa to attend a liberation movement summit.
Mugabe, who is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and senior government officials, was seen off the Harare International Airport by Vice President Joice Mujuru, service chiefs and top government officials.
President Mugabe is expected to join other heads of state from South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Mozambique and Tanzania at the summit which is being hosted by the African National Congress, (ANC) in Pretoria.
The summit comes on the back of the 52nd conference of the ANC which decided to revitalise and reconvene the meetings of the liberation movements.
The purpose of the meeting is for movements to re-unite with one another and to obtain an understanding of the political situations in each participating country.
The liberation movements include the African National Congress of South Africa, SWAPO of Namibia, MPLA of Angola, FRELIMO of Mozambique, Chama Cha Mapinduzi of Tanzania and Zanu PF representing Zimbabwe.
