A Goromonzi man, 40, was last week remanded out of custody for wielding a gun and pointing it at his pregnant girlfriend after she went to his matrimonial home to inform his wife of their affair.

Lazarus Mutemachani appeared before Mbare resident magistrate Mr Reuben Mukavhi facing two counts of pointing a firearm as defined in section 27 (b) of Firearms Act Chapter 10.09.

Circumstances are that on March 2 Mutemachani drove to his girlfriend Nicole William's place at 9 Gleemore Walk in Sunningdale 2 where he harassed her for going to his farm in Goromonzi without first informing him.

He then produced a firearm and pointed at Williams threatening to kill her.

On March 5, Mutemachani drove to William's place again and started an argument that resulted in him pulling out his gun a second time and threatening to kill her.

In the report made to the police Williams said she had gone to Banana Groove Farm where Mutemachani resided to inform his wife of their affair because he had lied to her saying he was a widower of four years.

She said his wife deserved to know he was having a baby by another woman.

Mutemachani was remanded out of custody to  April 23.

Prosecutor Revai Mudozori represented the State.
