' We have to make the 'Yes' vote solid' says Tsvangirai

Women take your boyfriends to go and vot - Morgan Tsvangirai
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai last night [Monday] urged party supporters to go out in their numbers and vote for the draft Constitution on Saturday.
Addressing party supporters at Sunningdale Hall, Tsvangirai, who is also Prime Minister in the inclusive Government said voter apathy could hamper efforts by all the parties to have the draft adopted.
He said there was a need for people to vote for the draft constitution despite the fact that all the governing parties have endorsed it.
"Some people may think that since we have already agreed with Zanu-PF that we should go for a 'Yes' vote then there would be no need to go and vote," he said.
"But remember there are those who want to say 'No'. Let them do that because pamupunga hapashaikwe nhinhi.
"Women take your boyfriends to go and vote.
"You men should take your girlfriends to go and vote as well. We have to make the 'Yes' vote solid."
Mr Tsvangirai said there were a lot of positives in the draft Constitution that Zimbabweans could not afford to let slip away.
He said the draft Constitution had the best Bill of Rights that no other country in the world has.
The draft, he said, gave power to provincial leadership to set their own developmental priorities.
He dismissed claims by some regions that they were marginalised saying all rural areas were facing the same challenges regardless of the geographical boundaries.
PM Tsvangirai said the draft sought to improve the lives of people from different areas.
He said the draft also recognised women's rights by providing for gender equity in strategic positions while aliens could also be accorded citizenship.
MDC-T organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa said there was no excuse for failing to go and vote because all that is required is an identification card.
Zimbabweans from all walks of life are expected to vote for or against the draft constitution on Saturday.
Parties in the inclusive Government and others outside have endorsed the draft while some parties outside Government and the National Constitutional Assembly are campaigning for the draft to be rejected.
