The Fallen Heroes of Zimbabwe Trust and the National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe have begun preliminary work on the Rusape Heroes site, where a number of people were executed and buried in shallow graves by the Rhodesian security forces.
The work will involve identification, exhumation and reburial of the fallen comrades who died during interrogations and executions by the Rhodesian settler regime.
It comes after a request by the local traditional leadership to have the area cleansed in line with African tradition.
The chairman of the Fallen Heroes Trust, George Rutanhire, said the organisation will not rest until they accord all the fallen comrades proper burial they deserve.
