Daily News comment says Jonathan Moyo plotting against President Mugabe again
18 Mar 2013 at 07:06hrs | Views
Daily News says if any recent Jonathan Moyo's rantings are anything to go by, it is really hard to believe that he is working in the interests of President Mugabe and Zanu-PF.
Below is the Daily News Comment:
There is no polite way of putting it: Serial political flip-flopper Jonathan Moyo is a desperate man.
The only thing that this supposedly learned turncoat seems perpetually capable of doing is to abuse and throw unspeakable insults at all and sundry - from President Robert Mugabe to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, as well as Finance minister Tendai Biti and Reserve Bank governor Gideon Gono..
His mad rantings in yesterday's Sunday Mail, shows he differs with President Mugabe's position once again on the botched recent indigenisation implementation.
The sole crime of all the victims of his vitriol is seeing things differently - be it with regard to politics or necessary discourse over Nieebgate.
Even the Daily News has paid dearly for disagreeing with this top flip-flopper. He shut us down unjustly when he was a junior information minister in September 2003 - for telling it like it is, as we always do.
We only came back two years ago after Zanu-PF temporarily came back to its senses and rightly discarded him
- upon which he subjected Mugabe to the most brutal and savage insults that he has ever received from anyone since independence in 1980.
This is all on record, just in case Mugabe or anyone else in Zanu-PF has forgotten.
This is also why noone in Zimbabwean politics, least of all Mugabe and Zanu-PF, can ever be too sure where Moyo stands and what poltricks America's useful Zimbabwean messenger is playing at any one time.
Indeed, is this famed political flip-flopper now truly swimming with Mugabe or once again plotting against the poor old man's demise.
If any of his recent mouthings are anything to go by, it really is hard to think that Zimbabwe's arch-anarchist is finally working in the interests of Mugabe and Zanu-PF.
His mission has always effectively looked like one to oust Comrade Mugabe.
Take his mad rantings in yesterday's edition of the Sunday Mail for example, where he once again differed with Mugabe's position on the botched recent indigenisation implementation.
What loyal cadre would do that if it is not for the purposes of embarrassing, humiliating and weakening this very mature citizen?
And as for his defence of what Savior Kasukuwere has done under Nieebgate, there is only one word to describe it. Pathetic.
How anyone in their right mind can claim that the deals are not just kosher, but still to be consummated when ridiculously high and dubious invoices are being presented to the wrong recipients is beyond us.
Even by his standards, Moyo is outdoing himself.
Lest we forget, this is the same man who smuggled gay rights into the rejected 2000 draft constitution but successfully did so in the draconian Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (Aippa).
The only one thing that Moyo has finally got right is him waking up, at last, to the public fact that the Daily News has active and serviced loans with local banks - and that we have neither benefited from the country's vast diamond wealth nor are we funded by either British or American "regime change" merchants.
For this, we are eternally grateful to this irrelevant flip-flopper.
