South Africa President Jacob Zuma has urged the inclusive government to realign the security sector ahead of elections expected later this year.

Zuma made the recommendations at the recent meeting of the Sadc organ on politics, defence and security.

He also called for the strengthening of the Joint Monitoring and Implementation Committee to deal with cases of violence.

Zuma also wants a Sadc team to be stationed in Zimbabwe as Harare heads for make-or-break elections expected as early as July.

In a report to the Sadc Troika on politics, defence and security, Zuma said Sadc needs to be more robust and to "be based in that country to make follow-ups and deal with issues as they arise."
