Man (26) axes wife's 'lover'

A 56-year-old man from Mutorashanga is lucky to be alive after being struck with an axe on the head for allegedly having an affair with a married woman.
Oliver Gwenda of Landfall farm in Mutorashanga was walking in a bushy area on Wednesday morning when Zuze Mverere (26) suddenly appeared from the thicket wielding an axe.
Mverere allegedly ordered Gwenda to stop having an affair with his wife before striking him once on the head with the axe.
Gwenda sustained a deep cut on the head and a swollen left leg. Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident. He said Mverere had since been arrested and was assisting police with investigations.
"We confirm the arrest of Zuze Mverere in connection with the attempted murder of Oliver Gwenda in Mutorashanga. He is assisting us with investigations," he said.
Gwenda was admitted to Banket district hospital where his condition is reportedly stable. Mverere is being held at Mutorashanga Police Station.
