The state has revoked bail for Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission (ZACC) CEO, Ngonidzashe Gumbo who is facing fraud charges.

Gumbo had been granted a US$1000 bail by Harare magistrate, Donald Ndirowei and was ordered to report at CID Fraud every Friday.

However, soon after the granting of the bail, the state, represented by Mr Michel Reza invoked section 121 of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act and indicated that the state is going to appeal against the magistrate's decision.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ndirowei had indicated that Gumbo was co-operating with the police, adding that considering his status, there is no possibility of him absconding.

The state alleges that Gumbo requested US$1,680 million from the Ministry of Home Affairs to purchase ZACC headquarters in Mount Pleasant, knowing that the building was valued at US$1,2 million.

However, according to state papers, the remainder of the money is alleged to have been transferred into accounts of three people while US$80 000 was said to be for renovations of the building.
