Seven people run over by out-of-control kombi

One person died and six others were injured after they were run over by a commuter omnibus at Copacabana Bus Terminus in Harare on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as conductor Thomas Madera who resides at 5 Bradfield Road in Waterfalls and is employed at 7721 Samora Machel Avenue, Belvedere West, Harare.
Madera is alleged to have driven his employers' vehicle after the driver left the keys in the ignition and ran over the seven victims.
He is further alleged to have fled the scene after the ancident.
Police say one female adult, Memory Muduma (39) died on admission at Parirenyatwa Hospital, while the six are still receiving medical attention at the hospital.
Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information regarding Madera's whereabouts to contact Chief Inspector Musuti Harare Traffic on 0773 108 961 or any nearest police station.
Police are also urging commuter omnibus drivers to be conscious of the rules of the road at all times and prioritise the safety of passengers and pedestrians whenever they are parked or on the road.
