A cross section of the public have described Easter Sunday as a special day that gives them time to reflect on the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and how it represents the rebirth and salvation of mankind.
Easter Sunday was celebrated in different ways by different denominations from the orthodox churches, Pentecostal and African churches.
"This is a special day on the Christian calendar, and as believers, this is not just a day to have fun, but a day to reflect on our relationship with God," said one Roman Catholic member.
"Many people view this Easter period as just another holiday away from work. For us this Easter holiday, especially this Sunday, is so special as we celebrate Christ's triumph over death, meaning great hope of resurrection after we die," said another believer from the Lutheran Church.
The Easter holiday has over the years become synonymous with devotion and humility as Christians mark Christ's death and resurrection through prayer, church services and music.
