THE Zanu-PF Politburo meets today amid high expectations that it will come up with rules and regulations to guide primary elections.
The party is expected to hold primary elections to choose candidates for harmonised elections set to be held by June 29 this year.
President Mugabe has indicated that the harmonised elections cannot go beyond June 29 this year since the life of Parliament cannot be extended.
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa confirmed today's meeting.
"The secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa is advising all Politburo members that there will be a Politburo meeting at the Zanu-PF headquarters on Thursday the 11th of April 2013 at the usual time."
Zanu-PF national spokesperson Rugare Gumbo said the meeting would tackle issues to do with election preparations.
"The meeting will hopefully tackle those issues to do with the preparations for the elections and others related to that," he said.
National political commissar Webster Shamu is also expected to outline the party's guidelines to the primaries leading to the campaign.
The party's structures are currently engaged in activities to strengthen its grassroots levels.
Last month, the Politburo deferred deliberations on rules and regulations governing the conduct of primary elections to select candidates to represent the party in harmonised elections.
