A MUTARE-based soldier allegedly ran amok and destroyed his friend's vehicle over $10 dispute.
Thomas Maunga of 820B, Two Rooms, Dangamvura, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Mutare provincial magistrate, Mr Charles Murova last week.
Prosecuting, Mr Shepherd Chawarika, said Maunga approached Itai Rossi at Muunze Bottle Store in Weirmouth and demanded his $10 that he owed him.
The court heard that Rossi denied ever owing Maunga any money.
"The two argued and Rossi walked away. Maunga told him to wait until he finished drinking his beer. Rossi did not wait, but proceeded to his vehicle where Maunga followed him. As he was closing the car doors, Maunga threw a bottle of beer at him, thereby damaging the front door window worth $30," he said.
In court, Maunga, said Rossi trapped his fingers when he was closing the window resulting in him (Maunga) breaking it with a beer bottle to free his trapped fingers.
The case was adjourned to April 8.
