Seven people were petrol-bombed in Epworth early this Saturday morning.
Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said the incident occurred at Number 907 Stop Over in Epworth.
He said the son of one of the victims, Lovemore Makarati (19), was sleeping in a dining room whilst his mother Lorraine Mtetwa and six other children were sleeping in the bedroom.
The son suddenly saw flames which were spreading towards the room where he was sleeping and discovered that the window had been broken and petrol sprinkled into the room and the house set on fire.
Chief Superintendent Nyathi said Makarati managed to open the door and rescued his mother and the six other children.
He said investigations have revealed that there is a suspect only known as Bernard who is a boyfriend to Lorraine Mtetwa and has been sending threatening messages to the family.
He said police are appealing for information which can lead to the arrest of the suspect.
Chief Superintendent Nyathi urged the public to solve differences through peaceful means and not take the law into their own hands.
