Govt killing more people than those killed under Smith regime, Makoni castigated

Political analysts have castigated Mavambo, Dawn, Kusile party leader, Dr Simba Makoni, saying his actions are a sign of a frustrated man who is trying to gain favour and popularity with the country's detractors.
Allegations by Dr Makoni that the current government is killing more people than those who were killed under the Smith regime have been described by political analysts as irresponsible.
Mr Gabriel Chaibva said progressive Zimbabweans know the kind of audience that Dr Makoni is trying to please, as he is clearly playing to the gallery of westerners who want to see a change of government in the country.
He said the Mavambo leaders' utterances are an attack to Zimbabweans whose loved ones suffered or lost their lives due to injustices perpetrated on blacks during the colonial era.
Another political analyst, Dr Charity Manyeruke said Dr Makoni's utterances are a sign of a frustrated man who will do anything to revive his fading political career.
She said people like Dr Makoni, who go outside the country and make irresponsible comments, should be charged with treason as their actions are tantamount to selling out.
Dr Makoni appeared on a South African news channel recently where he alleged that all is not well in Zimbabwe as people were being subjected to worse brutality than what transpired during the regime of Ian Smith.
The analysts said Dr Makoni must not forget that at one time he was once a senior member in government that he is now trying to portray as a monster.
