Zanu-PF has dismissed as cheap politicking and political grandstanding, the sentiments by MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai that his party will not go for elections until security sector and media reforms have been implemented.

The party Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo told ZBC News that Tsvangirai is afraid of elections and is now grandstanding by making desperate statements.

"Tsvangirai is playing to the gallery and grandstanding. Elections will be held whether he wants or not," said Gumbo.

Tsvangirai told journalists at a briefing at his party headquarters in the capital that the MDC-T will not go for elections unless reforms the party wants attended to are addressed.

"There shall be no elections before any reforms," Tsvangirai said. However, Gumbo said elections will be held whether the MDC-T wants or not.

The MDC-T has insisted that the party wants security sector reforms, a stance which Zanu-PF says will not happen.
