A JILTED woman from Warren Park is claiming money she gave to her former boyfriend as a present when they were still in courtship. Tambudzai Kachererwa brought her former boyfriend Tonderai Maunde to court claiming money she gave to him when they were still in a relationship. Tambudzai told the court that she wanted the money back because Tonderai left her for another woman.

"I gave this man US$85 as a present when I was in a relationship with him, but I want it back because he cheated on me with another woman," said Tambudzai. She went on to tell the court that Tonderai, along with his new girlfriend, were sending her insulting texts.

"Why should I leave him with my money when he and his girlfriend are always insulting me with vulgar language," she added. Meanwhile, Tonderai told the court that he was not in a position to pay the amount because Tambudzai had given it to him of her own volition.

"I never asked for any money from her, she gave the money to me as a present, so I don't see any reason to give her back the money because I also have things I gave her as presents that I am not claiming from her," said Tonderai. Magistrate Barbara Chimboza, who presided over the case, dismissed the application for lack of merit.
