KWEKWE - Police are still on the hunt for two Masendeke brothers Edward and Ernest together with alleged accomplices Lazarus Mukarati and one Mahofa wanted in connection with the alleged murder of a Mbizo man.

One of the Masendeke brothers, Elson, was arrested in Kadoma and is in remand prison.

He has already been charged with the murder of Jonathan Mpofu on the night of March 29 at Mbizo 4 shopping centre.

Acoording the NewsDay, police sources said the search for the fugitives was still on and called on members of the public to assist the law enforcers in catching the suspects.

"At the moment we are still searching for the suspects in connection with the murder. We can't reveal clues of their whereabouts to the media, but only to appeal to members of the public to quickly relay information on the suspects if they get any," said an unofficial police source.

Midlands provincial assistant police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed that the search was still on for the four alleged murderers saying those with information should approach the nearest police station or make use of the ZRP suggestion boxes.

The State alleges that Elson and the four fugitives assaulted Mpofu with a machete and sticks following a minor misunderstanding and left him for dead.
"The five assaulted Mpofu with sticks, fists and a machete several times until he became unconscious.

"He sustained deep cuts on his forehead and several bruises all over the body and bled through the nose and mouth," reads a court statement.
According to eyewitness accounts Mpofu's crime was stepping on Edward's foot while he was at a snooker table.
