Solomon Madzore, the MDC-T Youth Assembly leader was arrested this morning by police officers from the Harare Central Police Station's Law and Order Section on charges of undermining the office of the President.
The police are claiming that Madzore last month addressed an MDC-T rally in Mbire, Mashonaland Central province where he made insulting remarks on Zanu PF's Robert Mugabe.
Madzore has been ordered to wait for police officers from Bindura who will take him to there for further investigations and detention.
MDC-T today said the arrest of Madzore was "nothing but another desperate attempt by a panicking Zanu-PF to cow the people ahead of the next elections."
In a statement MDC-T said the party "wants to reassure the people not to fear the harassment of the police which is being used by the sunset party Zanu PF. These are the kicks of a dying horse and all eligible voters should ensure that they are registered voters ahead of the next elections."
"The coming elections are the first step towards the reconstruction of this country that will lead to genuine transformation of the lives of all people and citizens of Zimbabwe."
