INFORMATION Technology Minister Nelson Chamisa was jeered at a public meeting on Tuesday after stating that ministers were surviving on their basic earnings.
The MDC-T organising secretary was putting a defence for some rags-to-riches stories among his cabinet colleagues after MDC-99 leader Job Sikhala accused the party of swimming in corruption since joining a coalition with President Robert Mugabe in 2009.
Sikhala accused the MDC-T of enjoying the trappings of power and abandoning the poor once in government.
In defence, Chamisa said the MDC-T ministers had not been corrupted - drawing wild jeers and heckling from the crowd.
"There has been a misconception here. I had the opportunity to get a farm; had an opportunity to get a factory or a company; had an opportunity to get trappings of power but we did not get those things," Chamisa said during a debate on election timing.
Psychology Maziwisa, Zanu-PF's deputy director of information, shot down Chamisa's defence, claiming MDC-T ministers had become super rich to the point that they did not want the coalition government to end.
Sikhala went on to blast Tsvangirai for going around Africa seeking help from Zimbabwe's neighbours to force President Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party to embrace reforms the MDC-T wants in place before elections.
