Violence never good for Zimbabwe: Chihuri

Members of the public have been urged to heed the call by the Head of State and Government and the Commander-In-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde Robert Mugabe to shun violence and ensure that peace prevails in the country.
The call was made by ZRP Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri while addressing police contingents returning from tours of Mozambique and Zambia.
Commissioner General Chihuri said it is the duty of every Zimbabwean to ensure that peace is maintained.
He called for patriotism and unity among local people, adding that the country's liberation war heroes fought to ensure that people leave in a peaceful environment in Zimbabwe.
"Divisions and destabilisation of our nation is never part of the equation. In whatever form or name, chaos, anarchy and commotion is not what the liberation war heroes died for," Cde Chihuri said.
Some of the police recruits, who were part of the 170 member delegation that toured Mozambique and a 240 member delegation that went to Zambia, gave testimony of the brutality of the colonial regime as evidenced by mass graves in the two sister countries.
"A white man is not good at all. Sons and daughters of the soil perished in countries around Zimbabwe in a bid to liberate our beloved country," one recruit said.
Those who toured Mozambique visited Chimoio, Nyadzonia, Doroi and Dondo while the delegation which toured Zambia had first-hand experience of such shrines as Mkushi Girls Camp, Nampundwe, Mulungushi and St Marys (Kabwe).
The tours are part of the ZRP's educational trips for police recruits, and aim at instilling into police officers, a sense of responsibility and patriotism.
