Women from across the political divide have launched a 'Vote a Woman Campaign' in preparation for the upcoming elections.

Guest of honour at the occasion Dr Olivia Muchena, who is the Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development said women in Zimbabwe worked together in what has resulted in one of the most gender sensitive constitutions in the world.

Dr Muchena urged the women to unite and educate the electorate about the contents of the constitution which has been highly favourable to the female constituency.

Women in Politics Support Unit executive director, Ms Fanny Chirisa said the launch is a historic moment and women should support the cause as they appreciate it better.

Women in Parliament Caucus chairperson, Cde Beatrice Nyamupinga called on women to see the politics of decision-making beyond partisanship.

The 'Vote a Woman Campaign' comes in the context of a new constitution where over 94 percent of issues advocated for in the creation of the document were captured and are bound to redefine the role of women in politics, the economy and social development in a new dimension in Zimbabwe.
