The Zimbabwe Entrepreneurs Youth Action president Munyaradzi Kashambe
said the United States and its allies were bent on undermining the lives
and progress of Zimbabweans through their underhand involvement in the
issue of the sale of Zimbabwean diamonds.
Z.E.Y.A also challenged the West to let Zimbabwe sell its own diamonds for the benefit of Zimbabwean citizen, including youths.
"We are fully rallying behind the Government through the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development in challenging the Western world to stop meddling in the sale of Zimbabwe's precious gemstones" Said Kashambe.
"Being mindful of the hopes and aspirations of the youth of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurs Youth Action will support any action taken by the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development in asserting the country's right to the unsupervised and unrestricted export of its diamonds."
Kashambe also said as youths they would not stand idle while the United States and its allies dictated to Zimbabwe how it should manage its mineral wealth and resources, the lives of the people of Zimbabwe hinged upon these minerals.
"We feel that Western countries and the United States in particular, consistently undermine the lives and aspirations of Zimbabwe's hard-working and long suffering people, especially youths.
"We note that the Kimberly process was designed to ban the illicit trade in conflict diamonds. By definition, conflict diamonds or blood diamonds are diamonds that are used to finance civil war, forced child labour, arms trafficking, and related activities," said Kashambe.
Zimbabwean diamonds, he said, were clean and hence deserved to be sold anywhere else in the world without fear or favour.
