Zanu-PF chairman blasts factionalism

Zanu-PF chairman for Mashonaland East province, Ray Kaukonde has called on party members to be loyal to the party and desist from factionalism as it threatens the party.
Kaukonde made the call during the province's belated 21st February Movement celebrations held at Domboshava showgrounds in Goromonzi.
He said party members should mobilise people to register as voters in preparation for the harmonised elections to be held this year.
Kaukonde took a swipe at some party members who jostle for higher posts without following party channels.
He also said there is need to strengthen the party at grassroots for it to win resoundingly in the elections.
Meanwhile, as the country gears up for the forthcoming general elections, elders in Domboshava have joined the political leadership and the police in calling for the shunning of political violence.
The elders underscored the need for a peaceful environment before, during and after the elections.
Some elders advised perpetrators of political violence to consider cultural and moral values before furthering their political interests.
Other Domboshava residents indicated that some of the so-called politically motivated violence is caused by individuals who have personal grudges, a situation they say will tarnish the political image of the country.
