A Harare prisoner, Jonathan Mutsinze, who spent 10 years in remand prison, has made a constitutional application in which he is seeking referral of his matter to the Supreme Court.
Mutsinze cited the Attorney General as the respondent in this case in which he is arguing that there has been a contravention of the declaration of rights.
In his founding affidavit, Mutsinze revealed that he was arrested in 1998 on allegations of armed robbery and murdering Lesmore Kange and Willis Konje.
He said he has been in remand prison since 1998 after there was a change of trial judges from the then Justice Adams to Justice Hungwe.
Justice Hungwe commenced the trial in 2001.
