CHIPINGE police have launched a manhunt for 43-year-old Gibson Makele who recently butchered his brother in cold blood by stabbing him on the head before ripping out his intestines with an Okapi knife.

Police confirmed the murder of Abraham Makele (35) of Matikwa Village in Chief Garahwa's area. Acting police spokesperson for Chipinge District, Sergeant Clothing Ncube, said Gibson was allegedly murdered by his brother after an altercation.

On April 30, Abraham was drinking beer with other guzzlers in Matikwa when his brother, Gibson approached him. Gibson allegedly shouted at Abraham accusing him of causing trouble in the family through his refusal to perform traditional rites.

"The two started exchanging insults and the quarrel degenerated into a fistfight. Gibson pulled an Okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed Abraham on the head twice before he stabbed him on the stomach, ripping it open. A neighbor, Elias Ndlovu later intervened and rushed Abraham to Chiredzi Hospital where he was later transferred to  Masvingo. However, due to his critical condition he was transferred to Bulawayo General Hospital Intensive Care Unit where he died on admission," said Sgt Ncube.

He said a manhunt for the suspect had been launched.

"We are appealing to all members of the public with any information that may lead to Gibson's arrest to report to their nearest police station," said Sgt Ncube.
